“What do you need? What do you REALLY need?”
I stared at myself in the mirror, searching my soul for the answer to my own question.
My life has always been busy. For 16 years, I lived in Australia, where I had my three beautiful sons, worked in church ministries, and taught kindergarten in a small Christian school. Now I’m back in the States, running a daycare, raising my boys, and trying to keep up with church and school activities. Life seems to race by faster than sand in an hourglass.
“What do you need?”
I know the answer. I need a whole lot of Jesus. I know—absolutely know—that I cannot live the life I am called to live on my own. I don’t have the stamina or strength to do this without Jesus. I need Him like the air I breathe. Without digging deep into His Word, without a daily relationship with Him, I am nothing—I can do nothing.
I also need a break every now and then, a little bit of stress relief. (When did it become “spiritual” to run ourselves into the ground and never rest?) In this season of my life, I don’t have time for a day at the spa or a girls’ weekend away. But I do take time for one thing…a few minutes every now and then to settle down with a cup of coffee and a good book.
How about you? What do you need? I wish I could offer every stressed and over-worked woman I know a magical pill for limitless energy and vivacious health. (If I ever come across such a pill, I’ll be sure to let you know!)
I’d love to have you join me on this journey…a journey of seeking Jesus for the strength we need…and along the way, take a little time for fun too. If you’d like a bit of weekly encouragement from me, you can SIGN UP HERE.
